Job Overview
U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta (CA-19), a member of the U.S. Congress, seeks a motivated, organized, and outgoing person to serve as a Congressional Aide in his San Jose, California District Office. This position acts as a liaison on Rep. Panetta’s behalf to constituents in San Jose and federal, state, and city agencies, and engages casework correspondence and communications with constituents.

Responsibilities:
Caseworker Duties
- Handle constituent casework with a focus on passports, non-immigrant visas, banking issues, and agencies, including the State Department, Small Business Administration (SBA), Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA), Health and Human Services (HHS), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and more
- Serve as liaison to constituents and federal, state, and city agencies and as a staff representative to Rep. Panetta and district office staff
- Identify federal cases and contact appropriate agencies on behalf of constituents
- Personify/demonstrate/exhibit world-class customer service by staying in touch with constituents regarding the status of their cases and with a solution-oriented approach
- For non-federal cases, directly connect constituents to the appropriate state or local resources
- Remain informed about the most common constituent issue areas and policies
- Build relationships with staff of federal, state, and local agencies
- Elevate notable cases, case outcomes, and casework trends
- Document status and progress in constituent correspondence and casework management database
- Draft correspondence to constituents and government agencies about casework
- Attend meetings with Rep. Panetta and write responses to constituent letters relating to casework
Field Representative Duties
- Attend civic and community meetings and provide remarks on Rep. Panetta’s behalf when he is not present
- Work with the district office staff to ensure Rep. Panetta has a strong presence in the district by reaching out to people and organizations of interest for possible future visits
- Build relationships with local stakeholders
- Stay informed and current on local issues, particularly as they overlap with federal policies and projects
- Support town halls, constituent office hours, press conferences, other public events
Ideal Qualifications:
- Prior constituent service or customer relationship management
- Demonstrated interest in public service
- Strong network within the South San Jose community and knowledge of the area
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively
Additional Notes:
- This position requires occasional weekend hours.
- The constituent liaison duties take place in the San Jose office, while the field representative duties take place throughout the district, primarily in Almaden Valley, Evergreen, Edenvale, Silver Creek, and surrounding areas.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
