About Us
Little Dreamers Academy is a new family-owned early childhood center opening soon in Commerce Township. Our program combines play-based learning with developmentally appropriate practices in a warm, nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.
We are currently seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Lead Teacher to join our team as we prepare for opening.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities
- Create a safe, engaging, and nurturing classroom environment
- Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
- Complete observations and developmental assessments as required
- Maintain positive communication with families
- Supervise and mentor assistant teachers and classroom staff
- Ensure compliance with all MiLEAP/LARA licensing regulations and center policies
- Maintain accurate classroom records and documentation
Qualifications
Applicants must meet Michigan Child Care Center Lead Teacher requirements and possess one of the following:
Option 1
- Minimum 1 year experience working with children
- Required MiRegistry-approved professional development training
Option 2
- Minimum 6 months experience working with children
- Coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a child-related field
Option 3
One of the following:
- Child Development Associate (CDA)
- Montessori Credential
- Infant Family Associate Credential
- Associate Degree or higher (preferred)
Additional qualifications:
- Must be at least 19 years of age
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to pass Michigan Child Care Background Check requirements
- Negative TB test
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Reliable, professional, and passionate about working with young children
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a licensed child care center
- Experience leading a classroom
- Knowledge of Creative Curriculum, Montessori, or play-based learning approaches
- Infant/Toddler training (for infant or toddler classroom assignments)
