Independent Contractor – PC Builder (Per-PC / Contract)
Location: Plano, TX
Pay: Per PC (negotiable)
Schedule: As-needed (5-15 PCs per month to start)
Type: 1099 Independent Contractor
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled PC builder to assemble gaming and creator PCs on a per-unit contract basis. This is a flexible, low-volume role ideal for a freelancer, student, or hobbyist who already has PC building experience and wants side income.
You will be paid per completed PC, not hourly.
Responsibilities
- Assemble PCs using provided components
- Perform clean cable management
- Install Windows, drivers, and updates (when required)
- Complete a basic boot and functionality test
- Follow provided build checklist and standards
- Report any damaged or defective components immediately
- Deliver completed PCs on agreed timeline
Requirements
- Proven experience building PCs (personal or professional)
- Comfortable working independently without supervision
- Own basic tools (screwdrivers, thermal paste, etc.)
- Reliable transportation (local pickup/drop-off)
- Attention to detail and pride in clean builds
- Ability to follow written build instructions
Work Volume
- 3–5 builds per month initially
- Volume may increase as the business scales
- No guaranteed minimums or set hours
Compensation
Paid per completed PC:
- Payment within 7 days of build acceptance.
- Contractor is responsible for all taxes (1099).
Contractor Status (Important)
This is a 1099 independent contractor role, not employment.
You control:
- How you complete the work
- When you complete the work (within agreed deadlines)
- Your workflow and tools
You may accept other clients and work.
