Family Powersports is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Make Ready Builder to join our service team. If you enjoy working with motorcycles, ATVs, side-by-sides, boats, and other powersports equipment, this is an excellent opportunity to build your career with a growing dealership group.
As a Make Ready Builder, you'll play an important role in preparing new and pre-owned units for the showroom and customer delivery. Your work helps ensure every customer receives a clean, fully assembled, and properly inspected unit that's ready to ride.
Position Summary
The Make Ready Builder is responsible for assembling, inspecting, preparing, and performing final quality checks on new and pre-owned powersports vehicles before they are displayed for sale or delivered to customers. This position works closely with the Sales and Service departments to ensure every unit meets dealership and manufacturer quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Assemble new motorcycles, ATVs, side-by-sides, boats, trailers, and other powersports units according to manufacturer specifications.
- Perform pre-delivery inspections (PDI) and complete required documentation.
- Inspect units for cosmetic damage, missing components, or mechanical concerns before delivery.
- Install accessories and manufacturer-required equipment as directed.
- Perform minor adjustments and corrections to prepare units for sale or customer delivery.
- Maintain accurate repair orders, inspection records, and time entries using dealership systems.
- Clock labor accurately using the dealership's management system.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Safely move units throughout the dealership as needed.
- Assist with unloading, organizing, and staging incoming inventory.
- Follow manufacturer service bulletins, assembly procedures, and dealership safety policies.
- Work closely with the Sales and Service departments to ensure promised delivery dates are met.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous make ready, assembly, porter, technician, or dealership experience preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to use hand and power tools safely.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to follow written instructions and manufacturer procedures.
- Dependable with excellent attendance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record preferred.
- Powersports, automotive, marine, RV, or equipment experience is a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and walk throughout the workday.
- Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely move motorcycles, ATVs, side-by-sides, boats, and trailers.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely.

Schedule
- Full-Time
- Tuesday through Saturday
- Typical hours: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Overtime may be available during peak seasons and special events.
