American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position at a critical access hospital in rural Vermont, requiring at least 3 years of acute care experience and a VT or compact RN license.

Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)

Every other weekend required

General Med/Surg unit at a 25-bed critical access hospital in rural Vermont
-
Primarily adult patient population with occasional pediatric patients; this is not a dedicated pediatric floor
-
Scope of care includes medical, surgical, outpatient, observation, swing bed, and occasional pediatric cases
-
Meditech EMR experience is preferred

13-week contract

Active VT RN license or multi-state compact RN license currently in hand

Current BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications required prior to start

Minimum 3 years of acute care experience required

Adult Med/Surg experience required; candidates with pediatric-only backgrounds will not be considered

Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and occasionally pediatric patients using the Nursing Process to guide clinical decision-making

Accountable to the Unit Director, with shift collaboration alongside the Clinical Nurse Lead and/or Nursing Supervisor

Care approach emphasizes holistic patient needs including physiological, spiritual, psychosocial, and developmental considerations

Travelers begin their assignment on Wednesdays

Reliable personal transportation is essential — public transportation and rideshare services are not available in this rural area

Housing is the candidate's responsibility; a local housing resource list is available upon request
