Job Summary

Duties
- Operate a 6-axle dump trailer with precision, following all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Safely load, secure, and unload freight, including hazardous materials and dangerous goods when required, utilizing manual handling techniques or forklift equipment as needed.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems, optimizing delivery schedules while maintaining compliance with route driving protocols.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the tractor-trailer to ensure vehicle safety, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and load securement.
- Load and unload cargo such as construction debris, freight, or refrigerated items on flatbed or tanker trailers as necessary.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding route changes, delivery updates, or safety concerns during daily operations.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on dump trucks or tractor-trailers.
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods.
- Skilled in manual transmission operation and manual handling techniques for cargo management.
- Ability to operate refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, roll-off trucks, and other specialized equipment as needed.
- Proficient in GPS navigation systems and route planning software to ensure timely deliveries.
- Experience with freight handling logistics including load & unload procedures using forklifts or manual methods.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety compliance and adherence to DOT standards.
