Duties
- Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures by preparing surgical sites, maintaining aseptic techniques, and managing surgical instruments and equipment.
- Monitor anesthesia levels using veterinary anesthesia monitoring devices, ensuring patient safety throughout procedures.
- Perform vascular access procedures such as IV insertion and animal catheterization to facilitate medication administration and fluid therapy.
- Support pre-operative and post-operative animal care, including patient restraint, recovery monitoring, and pain management.
- Conduct laboratory work including phlebotomy, diagnostic radiology (X-ray), and other diagnostic tests to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Maintain detailed records of medical procedures, medication administration, and patient progress using veterinary software systems.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners about their animals’ care plans and post-surgical instructions to ensure understanding and compliance.
Qualifications
- Proven veterinary technician experience with a strong background in surgical assistance and anesthesia management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and aseptic techniques.
- Hands-on experience with medical equipment operation such as radiology machines, anesthesia monitors, and laboratory analyzers.
- Skilled in animal handling, restraint techniques for dogs, cats, and other species; including dog training and pet grooming as nice-to-have skills.
- Ability to perform IV insertion, animal catheterization, venipuncture (phlebotomy), and other critical procedures efficiently.
- Familiarity with veterinary emergency medicine practices including critical & intensive care protocols.
- Excellent client communication skills to explain procedures clearly and compassionately while maintaining professionalism at all times.

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
