About the Role
We're seeking an Accounting Manager who is analytical, business-minded, and enjoys working beyond the numbers. This position will play an important role in managing daily accounting operations while partnering with leadership to improve financial processes, control costs, and provide meaningful financial insights that support strategic decision-making.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost accounting, financial reporting, and operational accounting within a construction, trucking, or similar industry. This role offers opportunities for professional growth and advancement as the company continues to expand.

What You'll Be Doing
· Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance and month-end closing.
· Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
· Perform detailed cost accounting analysis for job costs, operational expenses, and profitability.
· Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend process improvements.
· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
· Analyze labor, equipment, material, and overhead costs.
· Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
· Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
· Coordinate pension contribution reporting.
· Review Form 5500 schedules prepared by the Third-Party Administrator (TPA).
· Assist with year-end tax preparation and external CPA support.
· Support annual audits.
· Develop internal accounting controls.
· Assist ownership with cash flow analysis.
· Maintain fixed asset records.
· Oversee sales/use tax filings.
· Partner with department leaders on financial performance.
· Ensure GAAP compliance.
· Participate in special projects.
What You Bring
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
· 5+ years of accounting experience preferred.
· Strong cost accounting experience required.
· Experience in construction, trucking, or similar industries
· Experience overseeing AP/AR.
· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
· ERP/accounting software experience.
· Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
· High level of integrity and confidentiality.
