Western Boulevard Preschool is a well-established, culturally diverse, half-day preschool located in West Raleigh, down the road from NCSU and the Cary Crossroads area. We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and nurturing teacher to join our awesome team. This position will begin in the last part of August.
What you'll do
- Develop and implement comprehensive, warm, and engaging curriculum plans tailored to preschool-aged children.
- Lead daily classroom activities through hands-on, play-based learning experiences that promote social skills, emotional regulation, fine and gross motor development, and early intervention strategies.
- Manage classroom behavior through positive behavior management techniques to ensure a respectful and productive learning environment.
- Collaborate with families to communicate children's progress, developmental milestones, and any special education needs in accordance with mandated reporting laws. Build strong relationships with children and families.
- Work with the assistant teacher and support staff to ensure high-quality preschool teaching standards are maintained.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of child development using standardized testing tools and adapt lesson plans accordingly to meet individual needs.
- Ensure compliance with all childcare regulations and safety protocols while fostering an inclusive atmosphere that celebrates diversity.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional developments (whether in person or by video), and school events.
Experience
- Proven experience working with children in preschool or daycare settings, demonstrating strong classroom management skills.
- Background in curriculum development with knowledge of early childhood education principles, such as childhood development instruction and literacy education.
- Familiarity with special education practices, early intervention programs, and behavior management techniques.
- Prior lead teaching experience with young children in private schools or daycare environments.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with children, families, and team members while maintaining professionalism in compliance with mandated reporting laws.
