Job Summary
The Electrical Assembly Engineering Technician supports Engineering and Manufacturing by assembling, testing, troubleshooting, and validating electrical assemblies and LED lighting products. This hands-on technical role bridges Engineering and Production by supporting prototype builds, new product introductions (NPI), manufacturing process development, engineering validation, and continuous improvement initiatives. The technician develops and maintains work instructions, performs functional testing and root cause analysis, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve product quality, manufacturability, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate has strong electrical assembly experience and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a focus on quality, precision, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, wire, and integrate LED lighting products and electrical assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, technical specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Perform functional testing, validation, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical assemblies to verify compliance with engineering, quality, and customer requirements.
- Read, interpret, and support engineering documentation, including drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly instructions, and engineering change orders (ECOs).
- Develop, document, maintain, and continuously improve manufacturing processes, assembly procedures, work instructions, and test methods.
- Support Engineering with prototype builds, new product introductions (NPI), engineering validation, process validation, and product design improvements.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing and assembly issues, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions to improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
- Conduct in-process and final quality inspections to ensure compliance with IPC workmanship standards, engineering specifications, and company quality requirements.
- Train and provide technical guidance to production personnel on assembly techniques, testing procedures, workmanship standards, and best manufacturing practices.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Production, Planning, and Supply Chain teams to resolve technical issues and improve manufacturability, quality, and production performance.
- Maintain accurate engineering, production, testing, quality, and training documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, ESD requirements, quality management systems, and manufacturing procedures.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 3+ years of experience in electrical or electronics assembly, manufacturing engineering support, or engineering technician roles.
- Experience supporting prototype builds, engineering validation, and New Product Introduction (NPI).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Experience with functional testing, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of ESD controls, IPC workmanship standards, and quality inspection methods.
- Experience developing work instructions and manufacturing documentation.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with LED lighting products, electronic assemblies, electrical systems, or related manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of electrical testing methods, troubleshooting techniques, and assembly process improvement.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement principles.
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), prototype builds, process validation, or manufacturing engineering activities.
- Ability to analyze manufacturing issues, identify root causes, and implement process improvements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using manufacturing or document control systems preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, sit, and perform hands-on technical work for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move materials or assemblies weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Manual dexterity required to assemble small components, perform electrical testing, rework, and operate hand tools.
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment while following ESD, safety, and quality procedures.
