ABOUT THE POSITION
Assemble Cinemas will reopen the cinema in Manhasset, New York this fall — a historic 1936 three-screen cinema being restored as a premier destination for film and community programming. We are hiring Part Time Ushers / Concessions Attendants to join our team.
As a member of the front-of-house staff, you are the face of the theater: welcoming guests, running the concession stand, keeping the auditoriums and lobby immaculate, and helping ensure every screening looks, feels, and runs the way it should. This is a hospitality role in a venue built around care and attention to detail — ideal for people who love movies and take pride in how a place is run.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Welcome guests warmly, scan tickets, and direct them to their auditorium
- Operate the concession stand, including POS transactions (cash and card), food and beverage preparation, and restocking
- Clean auditoriums between every show — sweeping, clearing trash and debris, and resetting seating areas so each screening begins with a spotless house
- Perform daily cleaning of the concession stand, including counters, equipment, popcorn machines, and storage areas, in addition to ongoing cleanliness and restocking throughout each shift
- Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the lobby, restrooms, and public spaces
- Monitor auditoriums during screenings to ensure picture, sound, and guest comfort meet the theater's standards
- Assist with seating, guest questions, and accessibility needs
- Support private rentals, school screenings, and community events, including setup and breakdown
- Follow all safety, security, and venue policies, and communicate issues promptly to the manager on duty
- Assist with light lifting and restocking of supplies as needed
REQUIREMENTS
- Prior experience in theaters, restaurants, retail, or hospitality is preferred
- A genuine, guest-first attitude — friendly, attentive, and reliable
- Availability for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts
- Ability to handle cash accurately and learn POS systems quickly
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs
- 16 years of age or older
Compensation: $18.00 per hour
