Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Driver to join our logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating various types of commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, to deliver freight efficiently and securely. Your expertise in route planning, adherence to safety regulations, and manual handling skills will ensure timely deliveries while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance. Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers and specialized vehicles such as refrigerated trailers and tankers, following all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations
- Plan and execute over-the-road (OTR) driving routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery schedules and routes
- Load and unload freight with proper manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo integrity and safety during transportation
- Transport hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods in compliance with hazardous materials regulations
- Deliver freight to various destinations, ensuring accurate delivery documentation and proper load securing procedures
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to identify maintenance needs or safety issues
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, cargo manifests, inspection reports, and delivery documentation in accordance with regulatory standards
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving across diverse terrains
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailer operations, flatbed hauling, tanker trucks, and automobile transportation
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for truck loading/unloading
- Proficiency with GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and real-time navigation adjustments
- Ability to handle manual transmission trucks confidently with excellent manual handling skills
- Experience in logistics cargo handling—loading/unloading freight safely while adhering to weight limits and cargo security standards
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; experience with over-the-road (OTR) routes preferred
- Knowledge of truck loading/unloading procedures for various freight types including freight that involves dangerous goods or hazardous materials
