Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Part-Time Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory standards.
- Perform account reconciliations for general ledger accounts, bank statements, and subsidiary ledgers such as accounts receivable and payable.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and review journal entries for accuracy and compliance.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support organizational decision-making.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms to maintain accurate financial records.
- Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and other regulatory requirements related to financial reporting.
- Contribute to the preparation of tax filings and regulatory reports, including those related to LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) projects when applicable.
- Collaborate with team members on technical accounting issues like accrual accounting, securities law compliance, or governmental accounting standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in corporate or non-profit accounting with a strong foundation in GAAP and financial concepts.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft or equivalent; familiarity with financial software tools is essential.
- Knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping principles, debits & credits, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Experience with financial report writing and interpretation to support management decisions.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform cash flow analysis, account analysis, and bank reconciliations efficiently.
- Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements including SOX compliance and governmental accounting standards if applicable.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills for mentoring junior staff or collaborating across departments on technical accounting matters such as Wills, trusts & estate law or securities law when needed.
