JOB Assists in collecting, compiling and analyzing data relative to the social, economic and physical development of the County of Maui; and performs other related duties as required.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This class differs from that of Planner I in that the Planner II performs fact finding and simple analysis work in assisting higher level planners in the conduct of various research studies and surveys pertinent to community planning; whereas the Planner I performs specific and limited research assignments which are designed to provide experience in professional planning This class differs from that of Planner III in that the Planner II assists in the conduct of various research studies and surveys pertinent to community planning; whereas the Planner III independently conducts a variety of research studies and surveys pertinent to community planning. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES The following are examples of duties and are not necessarily descriptive of any one position in this class. The omission of specific duties statements does not preclude management from assigning such duties if such duties are a logical assignment for the position.

Gathers, classifies and tabulates socio-economic and land use data required for community planning;

Participates in surveys to secure data on land use, housing, population, public utilities, transportation, etc.

Reviews resource documents and prepares reports on new concepts or to abstract other technical information;

Assists in analyzing collected data; Prepares graphs, charts and other presentations;

Prepares drafts of findings and conclusions.
