The 1st grade Teachers Assistant will support the Lead Teacher with all daily operations of the 1st grade classroom from 7:30am-3:30pm. Daily responsibilities include preparing the classroom and supplies for daily learning and play tasks, engaging in hands-on support and reinforcement for all students in large and small groups, as well as individually, and reinforcing curricular concepts to strengthen student skills. Applicants must be able to keep up with the physical demands of the day, this includes working in student-sized furniture, supervising outdoor recess duty, accompanying students to specials classes and moving easily around the building with students. The Teachers Assistant works closely with the Lead Teacher and requires strong communication skills.
The Teachers Assistant should be good at assisting with instructions and caring for young children, have a solid knowledge of child development, an engaging and energizing disposition, strong organizational and problem solving skills. The classroom will consist of 15-20 1st grade students participating in a full-day (5 day a week) instruction. Our program needs a Teacher's Assistant who is willing to jump into the role of an early educator. We need a collaborative caregiver with patience, maturity and some experience.
