Our Brooklyn based Ambulatory Surgery Center is looking for personable, competent and hard working individuals to apply for a position as a Perioperative Assistant. Prior Operating Room experience is preferred but not necessary as we are willing to train applicants that might be a good fit. High School Diploma or equivalent is a must and bilingual in Spanish, Russian or Mandarin is a plus.
The position requires frequent and constant judgment and ability to solve problems. It is a physically demanding position so applicants must be able to lift heavy weight and safely transport patients from Operating Room Suite to the Preoperative and Postoperative areas. The right applicant will assist in the preparation of the Operating Room prior to surgical procedures as well as clean and maintain Operating Room and perioperative areas and ensure adequate inventory of supplies.
Responsibilities include but not limited to: assisting staff in preparation of operating room prior to and during surgery, preparing and ensuring availability of stretchers and beds outside each OR, assisting in positioning and preparation of patient for surgery, as directed, transporting and monitoring patient for changes in condition and reporting changes to the RN, and taking inventory of supplies.
