Job Summary
Storagenergy Technologies, Inc. is seeking three highly motivated engineers or research scientists with an M.S. or Ph.D. degree to support the development of solid oxide cells, advanced catalysts, high-temperature electrochemical systems, prototypes, and integrated energy-conversion systems.
The successful candidates will participate in materials design, synthesis, characterization, cell fabrication, performance testing, prototype development, system integration, troubleshooting, and technology scale-up. Depending on experience, candidates may also lead technical tasks, coordinate project activities, mentor junior team members, and support customer and government sponsor interactions.
This is a hands-on industrial research and development position involving the full technology-development cycle, from laboratory experiments and materials optimization through prototype fabrication, subsystem integration, system-level validation, and manufacturing transition.
Minimum Qualifications
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Electrochemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated academic, research, or industry experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Solid oxide fuel cells
- Solid oxide electrolysis cells
- Reversible solid oxide cells
- High-temperature electrochemistry
- Heterogeneous catalysis
- Catalyst, electrode, or ceramic-material synthesis
- Electrochemical device development
- Prototype development
- Process engineering
- Energy-system integration
- Hands-on laboratory experience in materials synthesis, device fabrication, testing, characterization, or prototype development.
- Ability to plan, conduct, analyze, and document laboratory experiments.
- Strong technical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary industrial research and development environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience Expectations
Candidates with an M.S. degree should generally have relevant hands-on research or industry experience in materials, electrochemistry, catalysis, prototype development, manufacturing, or system integration.
Candidates with a Ph.D. degree should demonstrate the ability to independently lead research and development activities, develop technical approaches, interpret complex experimental results, prepare technical reports and proposals, and contribute to project leadership and technology strategy.
Exceptional candidates with directly relevant industrial experience may be considered based on their technical capabilities, accomplishments, and ability to contribute to the company’s research, prototyping, and system-development programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with solid oxide cell fabrication, assembly, sealing, testing, stack development, or system evaluation.
- Experience with catalyst synthesis, ceramic processing, electrode fabrication, or electrochemical characterization.
- Experience developing laboratory-scale or engineering-scale prototypes.
- Experience integrating electrochemical cells, stacks, reactors, gas systems, thermal systems, instrumentation, controls, and power electronics.
- Experience with high-temperature furnaces, reactors, gas-delivery systems, steam systems, test stations, or data-acquisition equipment.
- Experience with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and materials characterization methods such as XRD, SEM, EDS, BET, TGA, Raman spectroscopy, or XPS.
- Experience preparing engineering drawings, bills of materials, process flow diagrams, test procedures, assembly instructions, or technical reports.
- Experience with CAD, LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, PLCs, instrumentation, controls, automation, or system modeling.
- Experience with prototype commissioning, troubleshooting, failure analysis, customer demonstrations, or field testing.
- Experience supporting scale-up, pilot manufacturing, design for manufacturing, supplier coordination, quality control, or manufacturing transition.
- Experience working on government-funded research programs or preparing sponsor reports, proposals, presentations, patents, or technical publications.
- Previous industrial research and development experience is preferred.
- Strong organizational, leadership, mentoring, and project-coordination capabilities.
