Premier Coach is seeking diesel mechanics in our Milton and Rutland VT locations to keep our luxury motorcoaches performing at their peak. We provide excellent pay and benefits, uniforms, and our service bays are even equipped with lifts so that we perform most of our work standing up.
- Diagnose, rebuild and repair vehicles and equipment.
- Consult with motorcoach operators on problems incurred while the vehicle is in active service.
- Perform inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports.
- Other duties as requested by the Terminal Supervisor.
Considerable knowledge of:
- Methods, materials, tools and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance.
- Diagnosing mechanical problems and performing repairs.
- Electrical and computerized systems.
- Pneumatic systems and air brakes
- Safety practices and procedures.
Skill in:
- Use of power and hand tools.
- Use of diagnostic equipment.
- Operation of vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
Ability to:
- Diagnose problems and make repairs in the field when necessary.
- Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 60 pounds.
- Work extended hours out of doors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees
- Follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers’ service specifications.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Associate Degree in Diesel Technology preferred.
- High school diploma or the equivalent required.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
- A minimum of one year of experience in vehicle equipment repair.
- General knowledge of vehicle mechanical operations.
Accept calls after normal business hours to conduct emergency coach repairs. - The Mechanic works in the service lane, which is in an open garage area.
- Position requires stooping, bending and moving throughout the service department.
- May lift up to 60 pounds occasionally.
- May work with a Video Display Terminal. He/she will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Road-testing of vehicles also may be required.
- A current Vermont Drivers License required.
- CDL preferred within six months of employment.
The Service Supervisor will evaluate performance on the ability and effectiveness in carrying out the above responsibilities.
