Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Load Planner / Dispatcher with a strong background in flatbed /dry van freight logistics. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and dispatching flatbed loads efficiently while maintaining high levels of driver satisfaction and customer service. This role requires in-depth knowledge of the spot market, load boards, and transportation compliance specific to flatbed operations.
This role has On Call requirements every third weekend and week nights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Book and negotiate flatbed freight with brokers to ensure profitable load assignments.
- Dispatch company drivers and/or owner-operators, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations and company policies.
- Plan and schedule routes to optimize equipment utilization and reduce deadhead miles.
- Monitor and track shipments, providing real-time updates to customers and internal teams.
- Communicate load assignments, routes, and instructions clearly to drivers.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with freight brokers, shippers, and drivers.
- Ensure proper documentation of rate confirmations, BOLs, and delivery receipts.
- Quickly address any issues such as delays, reassignments, or mechanical problems.
- Use TMS (Transportation Management System) and load boards (e.g., DAT, Truckstop) for dispatching and freight sourcing.
- Collaborate with safety and compliance teams to ensure driver and load compliance.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience booking and negotiating broker freight.
- Proficient with load boards (DAT, Truckstop.com) and broker communication.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and requirements for flatbed freight.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.
- Experience using dispatch and logistics management software.
- Highly organized with great attention to detail.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
