Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced commercial General Contractor Superintendent to oversee construction projects from inception to completion for our Southern CA Division. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the construction process, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of construction management, and the ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders and team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Scheduling and management of all subcontracted trades/project work
- Assist Project Manager with the set-up of temporary project facilities and utilities
- Establish and maintain contact with appropriate city officials and inspectors
- Scheduling and management of all self-performed field and project work
- Supervise onsite personnel and subcontractors & Handle problems with subcontractors
- Adherence to all job site rules and regulations
- Work closely with all departments to maintain continuity of normal workflow
- Ensure that all jobs are constructed to contract, specification and detail
- Walk site to determine construction status and assure quality control
- Consistently utilize project software tools and Share Point Field folder
- Daily field reports and photos to PE and team
- Prepare punch-list audit for each job and ensure that all punch-list items have been completed prior to occupancy
- Oversee all aspects of construction project from planning to implementation
- Allocate resources for assigned projects
- Interface with project inspectors, contractors, architects, engineers, city and county officials, and clients
- Negotiate with contractors to receive reasonable order costs
- Maintain high standards of workmanship that adhere to original plans and specifications
- Supervise subcontractors and labor teams to ensure compliance with safety regulations (OSHA) and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation of project activities, changes, and communications.
Experience
- Proven experience 4+ years as a General Contractor Superintendent or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Must have a reliable vehicle, valid drivers license
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, scopes and legal regulations.
- Proficiency in budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Excellent supervisory skills with the ability to lead teams effectively.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- NON RESIDENTIAL - all commercial work
- Relevant certifications in construction management or related fields are preferred.
