Senior Estimator, Commercial Construction
Centennial, CO | Full-Time | On-Site
A commercial general contractor based in Centennial, CO is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead project estimates across all design phases, from conceptual budgeting through construction document pricing. This is a senior-level preconstruction role with mentorship responsibility for a team of estimators and preconstruction engineers, working under the direction of the Preconstruction Manager. The position spans project types including CM/GC, CMaR, Design-Build, and competitive bid delivery.
Standard business hours, Monday through Friday, with site visits and pre-proposal meetings as project needs require.
$110,000 - $140,000 Per Year
You will own the overall project estimate across all design stages, including Conceptual, Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents, ensuring the appropriate level of detail at each phase. You will prepare quantity takeoffs and estimate costs for materials, labor, and equipment, and you will fill scope gaps with your own estimate or through subcontractor and supplier infill as needed. Working closely with the Preconstruction Manager, you will help assemble and submit bids, manage the preconstruction and design schedule, and present project budgets to clients, designers, and operations teams.
You will consult with clients, architects, subcontractors, and material suppliers to formulate estimates, identify cost reduction opportunities, and resolve issues as they arise. Running preconstruction meetings, charrettes, and workshops is part of the role, as is leading the Pursue, Plan, and Execute process with the operations team to review plans and specifications for constructability and general requirements. You will also coordinate self-perform estimating with the operations team, factoring in production rates, manpower availability, and contract requirements.
On the subcontracting side, you will manage the full subcontractor solicitation process using Pantera or comparable platforms, ensure proper bid coverage for each scope of work, review bids for contract conformity, and administer the buy-out process including subcontract negotiation, scope exhibit writing, and handoff to the operations team. You will assist with the subcontractor prequalification process to confirm that awarded subs have the experience and financial capacity to perform.
You will support business development in project acquisition activities including pre-planning, budgeting, and proposal interviews, and you will attend pre-proposal meetings and site visits as required. Maintaining and growing relationships with subcontractors, owners, and design teams is an ongoing expectation of the role, as is participating in industry organization events. You will also mentor and train Project Estimators, Estimators, and Preconstruction Engineers in preconstruction processes and systems, and contribute to keeping the estimating cost database current.
