Program Overview
Athena Coding is hiring instructors to lead hands-on after-school enrichment programs for students in grades 1–6 in Alhambra, CA.
Instructors will be assigned to teach one of the following programs:
- Athena’s Architects: LEGO Design
- Da Vinci’s Workshop: Painting, Drawing, Sculpting, and More
- Minecraft Coding and Design Studio
Athena provides the curriculum, lesson plans, and program materials. Instructors are responsible for delivering engaging lessons, managing the classroom, and creating a safe and positive experience for students.
Schedule
Programs begin on August 13, 2026 and operate on school days, Monday through Friday.
Available schedules are:
- Grades 1–3: 1:45–4:45 PM
- Grades 4–6: 2:15–5:15 PM
Applicants should generally be available to work all five weekdays. Each shift is approximately three hours.
Responsibilities
- Lead engaging enrichment lessons using Athena-provided curriculum and materials
- Prepare the classroom and organize materials before each lesson
- Maintain a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment
- Use clear expectations and positive reinforcement to manage student behavior
- Actively supervise students during instruction, transitions, and dismissal
- Track attendance and promptly report absences, incidents, or concerns
- Communicate professionally with Athena Coding supervisors and school staff
- Follow all safety, conduct, and mandatory-reporting procedures
Requirements
- At least 48 completed college credits or an associate degree or higher
- Previous experience working with children in a classroom, camp, tutoring, recreation, or after-school setting
- Strong classroom-management and communication skills
- Dependability and consistent weekday availability
- Ability to pass a Live Scan background check
- Ability to provide a negative TB test before beginning work
- Reliable transportation to program sites in Alhambra
Experience with LEGO, visual arts, or Minecraft is helpful but not required. Training, lesson plans, and materials are provided.
Compensation
- $22–$25 per hour, depending on experience
- Paid mandatory training before the program begins
- W-2 employment
- California paid sick leave and legally required breaks provided
This posting is for regular five-day-per-week instructor assignments. Substitute and floater opportunities may also be available for qualified applicants with more limited availability.
