We are a family owned business looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic and truck driver to do maintenance on trucks. Also, as needed will deliver potable water to our customers in a safe, respectful and timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, engine overhauls, breaks, air conditioning, electrical, welding, all aspects of Class 8 truck maintenance.
- Transport potable water in tank trucks with manual transmissions.
- Must be drug free and pass pre hire drug screening and subject to randoms during employment.
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance.
- Drive routes and meet delivery schedules.
- Document and log work, customer payments and retain receipts.
- Input customer data into our system for each stage of the loading and unloading process.
- Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions.
- Collect and verify delivery instructions.
- Report defects, accidents or violations.
Skills
- Proven work experience as a truck driver.
- Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software.
- Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly.
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
- No recent moving or driving violations.
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc).
- Valid class A or B truck driving license with tank endorsement.
- Must be able to drive manual transmission trucks.
- Must be able to adapt quickly to dynamic schedule which changes frequently.
- Must have strong communication skills with employer and customers.
