About the Role
We are seeking an Assistant In-House Counsel (Employment Law) to join our legal team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking to transition from private practice into an in-house role while remaining actively involved in employment litigation, compliance, and risk management matters.
The ideal candidate will have experience handling California employment litigation, including wage & hour claims, PAGA matters, FEHA claims, and employment-related disputes. This position will work closely with Senior In-House Counsel, Human Resources, and business leaders on high-impact legal matters affecting the organization.
Please note: This is a fully onsite role (5 days per week) and is not remote or hybrid.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with employment litigation matters, including:
- Wage & hour claims
- PAGA matters
- Employment class actions
- FEHA claims
- Wrongful termination and discrimination matters
- Partner with Senior In-House Counsel on litigation strategy, investigations, and risk assessments.
- Manage outside counsel and oversee litigation costs and case progress.
- Respond to agency inquiries and administrative claims, including matters involving:
- DLSE
- CRD (formerly DFEH)
- EEOC
- Conduct workplace investigations and provide practical legal guidance on employee relations issues.
- Review, draft, and update employee handbooks, employment agreements, policies, and related HR documentation.
- Advise Human Resources and operational leadership on California labor and employment law compliance.
- Conduct legal research and provide recommendations on emerging employment law developments.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) required.
- Active California Bar license required.
- 2–6 years of employment litigation experience required.
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- Wage & hour litigation
- PAGA matters
- Employment class actions
- FEHA litigation
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working directly with clients, HR professionals, or business stakeholders.
- Prior law firm employment litigation experience strongly preferred.
- In-house employment law experience is a plus.

Pay: $160,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
