Job Description Summary:
The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for certifying airworthiness of all parts shipped to customers; ensuring the Quality team meets all FAA, AS9100, ISO, OEM, and customer requirements; ensuring supplier products meet all applicable specifications; and resolving hardware quality issues. This position supports shipping operations through inspection of aerospace hardware, issuance of airworthiness certifications, and management of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) utilizing NetInspect and AS9102 requirements.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Certify parts using FAA Form 8130-3 to meet FAA requirements.
- Perform and review AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
- Utilize NetInspect to create, review, submit, and maintain FAIR documentation and customer quality records.
- Ensure supplier products meet all contractual, regulatory, and customer requirements.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to verify product conformity.
- Conduct receiving, in-process, and final inspections of aerospace hardware.
- Resolve product quality problems and support root cause and corrective action investigations.
- Process customer returns and non-conforming material reports.
- Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, OEMs, regulatory agencies, and internal departments.
- Manage the Quality Control Hold Area and disposition activities.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding FAA regulations, AS9100 requirements, and aerospace industry standards.
- Support customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.
- Support and comply with all ATC/AERO policies, programs, procedures, and applicable laws.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong aerospace quality assurance and inspection background.
- Experience with NetInspect and customer quality portals.
- Working knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
- Familiarity with AS9100 quality management system requirements.
- High level of computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Qualified to inspect the airworthiness of aerospace hardware.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
- Experience using calipers, micrometers and precision measurement tools.
- Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
- Ability to define processes and create work instructions, procedures, and training documentation.
- Demonstrated capability to interface and maintain effective relationships in a team-oriented environment.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of aerospace quality assurance, quality control, or inspection experience.
- Experience completing and reviewing AS9102 FAIR packages.
- Experience utilizing NetInspect or similar aerospace quality management systems.
- Quality and aviation experience required.
- Direct involvement with FAA-regulated operations or military equivalent preferred.
