Purpose: The Shipping & Receiving Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely
processing of inbound and outbound shipments. This position supports logistics operations by managing data
entry, coordinating carrier schedules, and handling small parcel shipments. The ideal candidate will ensure
compliance with regulatory standards and maintain high levels of accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced
warehouse and office environment.
Primary Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to):
1. Outbound Shipments
- Accurately input shipment details into inventory and logistics systems.
- Generate shipping documents including bills of lading, packing slips, and labels.
- Ensure outbound records are complete, accurate, and compliant with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Contact freight carriers to schedule timely pickups of finished goods.
- Coordinate with warehouse and dock personnel to ensure readiness for dispatch.
- Track and confirm carrier appointments and resolve scheduling conflicts.
2. Inbound Deliveries
- Enter data for all incoming shipments of raw materials and packaging components.
- Verify shipment documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Communicate discrepancies or delays to internal departments or vendors.
- Coordinate with suppliers and carriers to schedule delivery appointments.
- Maintain a delivery calendar and ensure dock availability.
3. Small Parcel Shipments
- Prepare and process small parcel shipments (e.g., UPS, FedEx) for customer samples and other outbound items.
- Ensure proper packaging, labeling, and documentation.
- Track and confirm delivery of sample shipments and maintain traceability records.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
Licenses/Certificates:
- D.O.T. (Ground): Certification for handling and shipping goods via ground transportation.
- IATA (Air): Certification for air freight compliance with international air transport regulations.
- IMDG (Vessel): Certification for shipping hazardous materials by sea under the International Maritime
Dangerous Goods Code.
Experience:
- Prior experience in shipping, receiving, or logistics preferred.
- Familiarity with inventory systems and shipping software is a plus.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Occasionally lift or move packages up to 25 lbs.
- Navigate between office and warehouse environments as needed.
Other Requirements:
- Must be available to work 40+ hours per week, including occasional overtime.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
