Position Summary
ORC Metal Building Erectors is seeking an experienced Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) Erector to join our team. The ideal candidate will have proven experience erecting metal building systems and structural steel while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity. This position requires the ability to read construction drawings, work safely at heights, and lead by example while working alongside crew members to complete projects efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Erect pre-engineered metal building systems according to engineered drawings and manufacturer specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and construction plans.
- Install structural steel, columns, rafters, purlins, girts, bracing, insulation, wall panels, roof panels, trim, gutters, doors, windows, and other building components.
- Safely operate forklifts, telehandlers, aerial lifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and other construction equipment.
- Assist with rigging, hoisting, aligning, plumbing, and securing structural steel components.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality and compliance with project specifications.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and fall protection requirements.
- Work efficiently with crew members and assist in training less experienced employees.
- Travel to job sites as required and perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience erecting pre-engineered metal buildings and/or structural steel.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and construction documents.
- Experience working safely at heights using proper fall protection equipment.
- Strong understanding of PEMB installation methods and structural steel erection.
- Ability to safely operate common construction equipment and power tools.
- Reliable transportation to job sites or designated meeting locations.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Strong work ethic, dependability, and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience operating telehandlers, forklifts, boom lifts, and scissor lifts.
- Rigging and signal person certification.
- Welding and torch cutting experience.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- CDL is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
- Climb ladders and work at elevated heights for extended periods.
- Stand, bend, kneel, crouch, and walk throughout the workday.
- Perform physically demanding work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
