Duties
- Perform nuclear medicine procedures including DEXA scans for bone density assessment and PET scans for metabolic activity evaluation, ensuring precise imaging results.
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals safely, following strict radiation safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and yourself.
- Operate advanced medical equipment such as gamma cameras, Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), and other diagnostic radiology tools with technical proficiency.
- Insert IV lines for radiotracer injections using aseptic techniques, ensuring patient comfort and procedural accuracy.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations by interpreting physiological data, anatomy details, and medical imaging results to support accurate diagnosis.
- Maintain detailed records within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, documenting procedures, doses, and patient information thoroughly.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize imaging protocols and ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of nuclear medicine procedures, including PET scans, DEXA scans, and other diagnostic imaging techniques.
- Proficiency in operating medical equipment such as gamma cameras, PACS systems, and related diagnostic tools.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic radiology principles to accurately interpret imaging results.
- Skilled in implementing radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure risks for patients and staff.
- Experience with IV insertion techniques and aseptic procedures to ensure safe radiotracer administration.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for efficient documentation of patient data and procedural information.
- Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations by integrating medical imaging findings with clinical information for comprehensive assessments.
