Position Summary
FedVet Construction is seeking a dependable and versatile Multi-Trade Skilled Laborer to support federal construction projects at various locations. This is a traveling field position for an individual with experience performing work across multiple construction trades.
The Multi-Trade Skilled Laborer will assist project supervision and trade personnel with demolition, carpentry, concrete, drywall, painting, minor repairs, material handling, site protection, and general construction activities. The employee must be willing to perform hands-on work, travel for extended assignments, and work safely in active federal facilities.
This position is subject to applicable prevailing-wage and Davis-Bacon requirements. The employee will be paid according to the wage classification applicable to the work actually performed and the wage determination assigned to the project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform skilled and general construction work in support of multiple trades.
- Perform selective demolition, removal, cleanup, and disposal of construction materials.
- Assist with rough and finish carpentry, including framing, backing, blocking, trim, doors, and hardware.
- Assist with drywall installation, patching, finishing, and repairs.
- Perform surface preparation, painting, caulking, and sealant installation.
- Assist with minor concrete work, including forming, placement, patching, and repair.
- Install temporary protection, dust barriers, containment, signage, and safety barricades.
- Perform minor building repairs and punch-list work.
- Load, unload, stage, transport, and protect tools, equipment, and materials.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, scaffolds, lifts, and other equipment when properly trained and authorized.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas throughout the shift.
- Assist subcontractors and other field personnel as directed by the Superintendent or Foreman.
- Review daily assignments and accurately report the type of work performed and hours worked.
- Follow project plans, specifications, quality-control requirements, and manufacturer instructions.
- Participate in daily safety meetings, Activity Hazard Analysis reviews, and required training.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, damaged materials, and quality concerns.
- Support project mobilization, demobilization, and closeout activities.
- Perform other construction-related duties consistent with the employee’s training and assigned wage classification.
Minimum Qualifications
- Three or more years of construction experience supporting multiple trades preferred.
- Working knowledge of common construction tools, materials, and methods.
- Ability to read basic construction drawings, measurements, and written instructions.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a project team.
- Ability to accurately identify and report the work performed each day for certified payroll purposes.
- Willingness and ability to travel to project locations for extended periods.
- Ability to work varying schedules, including overtime, weekends, nights, or multiple shifts when required.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Reliable transportation to the designated project or departure location.
- Ability to pass project-specific background checks, badging requirements, drug screening, and other federal site-access requirements.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on federal, military, VA, NAVFAC, USACE, or other government construction projects.
- OSHA 10- or OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Scissor lift, aerial lift, forklift, or scaffold-user training.
- Experience working in occupied facilities, healthcare environments, or other sensitive work areas.
- Familiarity with prevailing-wage projects and certified payroll reporting.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, push, and pull.
- Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift heavier materials with assistance.
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, and elevated work platforms.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather, temperature, noise, and site conditions.
- Wear required personal protective equipment for the duration of the work.
- Perform physically demanding construction activities for extended periods.
Travel Requirements
Frequent travel is an essential function of this position. Assignments may require extended stays away from the employee’s primary residence. The employee must be available to travel by vehicle or commercial air and remain at the assigned location for the duration required by the project. Travel expenses and per diem, when authorized, will be provided in accordance with FedVet Construction policy and project requirements.
Prevailing-Wage and Davis-Bacon Requirements
This position may perform work covered by the Davis-Bacon and Related Acts or other applicable prevailing-wage requirements. Wage rates, fringe benefits, and classifications will be determined by the applicable project wage determination and the work actually performed.
Employees are required to accurately document their daily work activities and time by classification. Performing multiple types of work may require hours to be recorded under separate wage classifications. The title “Multi-Trade Skilled Laborer” does not establish a single prevailing-wage classification or authorize the performance of work outside the applicable wage determination.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
