Redemption Center Attendant
Location: Presque Isle, Maine
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; Saturday, 8:00 AM–2:00 PM
Pay: $15.10/hour during training; increases to $15.50/hour upon successful completion of training
Position Overview
A local redemption center in Presque Isle is seeking a dependable and hardworking Redemption Center Attendant to join their team. This position involves assisting customers, sorting and processing returnable bottles and cans, and helping maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
This is a hands-on position that is well suited for someone who enjoys staying busy, working with the public, and being part of a small team.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner
- Receive, count, sort, and organize returnable bottles and cans
- Accurately process customer redemptions and payments
- Separate containers according to established procedures
- Move bags, boxes, bins, and containers throughout the work area
- Prepare returnables for storage, pickup, or transport
- Maintain clean and organized customer and work areas
- Clean equipment, floors, and work surfaces as needed
- Follow workplace safety procedures and established operating practices
- Work cooperatively with coworkers to keep daily operations running efficiently
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Dependable and able to maintain consistent attendance
- Strong work ethic and willingness to stay productive throughout the shift
- Friendly and comfortable working directly with customers
- Ability to count accurately and handle basic transactions
- Ability to follow instructions and established procedures
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willing and able to work the full scheduled hours, including Saturdays
- Previous customer service, retail, warehouse, recycling, or similar experience is helpful but not required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, twist, squat, and perform repetitive motions
- Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull bags, boxes, bins, and containers
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in an environment that may include wet or dirty containers, odors, and varying temperatures
- Ability to perform repetitive sorting and counting tasks for extended periods
