Position Overview
The Assistant Teacher works closely with the Lead Teacher to support daily classroom operations, guide children in their learning, and maintain a calm, orderly Montessori environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about early childhood education and interested in deepening their Montessori practice.
Responsibilities
- Support the Lead Teacher in preparing and maintaining the Montessori environment
- Observe and guide children with respect, patience, and consistency
- Assist with individual and small-group lessons as directed
- Help maintain classroom routines, transitions, and daily schedule
- Supervise children to ensure safety and emotional well-being
- Support practical life activities, classroom care, and outdoor time
- Communicate professionally with colleagues and families as needed
- Model grace, courtesy, and positive classroom culture
Qualifications
- Experience in early childhood education (Montessori experience preferred but not required)
- Strong understanding of or interest in Montessori philosophy
- Warm, patient, and collaborative approach with young children
- Ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic classroom setting
- EEC certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred
Schedule
- Full-time, Monday–Friday
- School year: Late August–June, with optional summer program opportunities
- Hours aligned with school day and extended care as needed

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
