PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The primary responsibility of a food runner is to provide assistance to waitstaff and bartenders. Runners do not take orders or handle payments. They help busy servers to deliver orders to guests in a timely manner. That means literally running the food from the kitchen to the table. While it might seem simple, it's an important job that ensures a smooth and efficient operation. The server is responsible to serve their guests the food while the food runner returns to the kitchen in a timely manner. If the server is unavailable to serve the hot food, the food runner may not leave the hot food unattended, in turn, it is the food runners’ responsibility to deliver the food to the guests. He or she may also check to see if the guest has everything that he or she needs and can deliver any additional items.
Successful Food Runners are energetic and detail-oriented individuals.
