Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical experience across various specialties, including critical care, emergency medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, home health and outpatient settings. This role involves providing comprehensive patient care, performing assessments, administering medications and treatments, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, and eClinicalWorks is essential. The Registered Nurse will also be responsible for maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensuring high standards of infection control and aseptic techniques.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols.
- Manage airway care, ventilator support, IV infusions, catheterization, and ostomy care as required.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection/processing, sonography, mammography, and medical imaging procedures.
- Provide specialized care in areas such as ICU, trauma medicine (Level I & II Trauma Centers), cardiac catheterization, dialysis, hospice & palliative medicine, and infectious disease care.
- Document all patient interactions accurately within EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner.
- Assist with discharge planning and coordinate post-acute or home & community care services.
- Educate patients and families on health coaching, medication administration, nutrition, and disease management including Alzheimer’s/dementia care.
- Ensure infection control protocols are followed diligently to maintain sterile environments during procedures such as sterile processing or aseptic techniques.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in outpatient clinics, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or hospital settings including teaching hospitals and trauma centers.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA standards while managing sensitive medical records and documentation.
Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
- Proven experience in diverse clinical settings such as ICU, emergency room, medical-surgical units, pediatrics (including neonatal ventilator), geriatrics (including memory & Alzheimer’s/dementia care), or home & community care.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Experience with specialized procedures like suturing, tube feeding management, venipuncture/phasbotomy/injection administration; familiarity with ventilator management is preferred.
- Ability to work in high-pressure environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or acute care units with trauma medicine experience preferred.
- Excellent patient assessment skills along with critical thinking abilities for triage and acute pain management cases.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining safety standards.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in inpatient or outpatient settings including long-term care facilities like nursing homes or assisted living communities. Job Types: Contract, PRN, Per diem
Pay: $32.00 - $55.00 per hour
Expected hours: 2 – 40 per week
