Job Description
Responsible for assembling Toroidal wire-wound products in accordance with drawings, procedures, manufacturing instructions, Job Traveler operations, and Bill of Materials. This includes the winding of the wire to a toroidal magnetic core, the soldering of the wire to specified termination, and any other value-added assembly required.
Duties and responsibilities
- Able to meet individual weekly production schedule of existing or new products (prototypes)
- Verify Job Kit materials before the start of any job
- Perform set-up inspection before the start of any job operation
- Perform winding - manually, by pull-winder, or by machine
- Perform wire stripping - mechanically (sand paper, razor blade, handheld stripper, twin cone stripper, rotary stripper) or by a chemical pot
- Perform splicing of joints (Sigma method or Customer specific method)
- Perform soldering to specified termination (Soft leads, Buss Wire, Pins, Lugs, Connectors, etc.)
- Perform heat shrinking sleeving over solder joints using Heat Gun
- Perform any cleaning as necessary (can be between several operations)
- Perform any insulating wraps of tape (Bare core wraps, wraps in between windings, or final unit wraps)
- Perform any additional assembly operation(s) ((Epoxy, RTV, sanding, drilling, Raw material modification, etc.)
- Perform quality inspection of all products (Electrical continuity, Mechanical and Visual-under microscope)
- Assist in the training of new employees
- Collaborate with the Engineering department with engineering samples and prototypes
- Collaborate with Documentation (manufacturing details, product photos, and manufacturing videos)
Education/Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience in manufacturing is a plus
- Language: English; Bilingual (Spanish) preferred, but not required
Skills/Abilities/Knowledge
- Manual Dexterity/Tools – Pliers, Wire Cutters, Winding Shuttle, Tweezers, Pull-Winder, Heat Gun, Epoxy Dispenser, Sander, Drill
- Miniature Components – Must have good eyesight
- Knowledge of Quality Inspection equipment (Microscope, Ruler, Caliper, ID gauges)
- Units of Measurement – Decimal and Fractions
- Basic Electrical/Electronics schematic and mechanical drawing interpretation
- Critical Components/Complex Designs
- IPC-A-610/HMP Soldering/Lead Free Soldering/Soldering Iron/Soldering Pot
- Detail Oriented/Communication Skills/Organizational Skills/Troubleshooting
- Production Efficiency
- ISO 9001 knowledge is a plus
- Basic Computer Skills/Basic Tablet Skills
- Bilingual – English/Spanish preferred, but not required
