Gastroenterology Consultants of Southwest Virginia is a busy, well-established practice dedicated to providing exceptional digestive healthcare to our community. We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Full-Time Procedure Scheduler to join our patient-focused team.
The Procedure Scheduler plays a critical role in ensuring patients receive timely and well-coordinated care. The ideal candidate will excel in communication, organization, and problem-solving, while thriving in a fast-paced clinical environment. Prior experience in a hospital, medical office, or dental office is strongly preferred.
Duties
- Accurately schedule and coordinate patient procedure appointments across multiple systems.
- Clearly communicate procedure preparation instructions to patients to ensure compliance and readiness.
- Enter, update, and maintain patient demographics and appointments within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Confirm, reschedule, and manage patient appointments while minimizing scheduling conflicts and delays.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, clinical staff, and facilities to optimize schedules and patient flow.
- Professionally manage incoming calls, providing courteous and efficient service to patients and providers.
- Identify and escalate scheduling issues proactively to avoid delays in care.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented environment by maintaining professional communication with patients, coworkers, and providers.
Skills
- Previous experience in a medical office or scheduling role preferred.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with high attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal communication and phone etiquette to ensure a positive patient experience.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment.
- Familiarity with EMR systems and medical scheduling processes preferred.
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
