Job Summary
East Coast Provisions is hiring a Sous Chef. The position supports the Executive Chef on his days off by executing service, working side by side with the FOH manager and ensuring that the kitchen runs smoothly. This is a salary position cooking four doubles and a half shift with two consecutive days off. Previous comparable kitchen experience is necessary. This is a great team work environment. Duties
- Support the Executive Chef in managing all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
- Supervise and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive team environment while ensuring adherence to food safety sanitizing procedures and hygiene standards.
- Oversee inventory management and control to minimize waste, optimize stock levels, and ensure timely procurement of ingredients.
- Maintaining consistency and established standards.
- Coordinate private events and special functions by supervising food production and service to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Delegate tasks effectively, and monitor performance to maintain smooth kitchen flow during busy periods.
- Enforce strict food handling protocols, safety regulations, and sanitation practices across all kitchen areas.
- Collaborate with the restaurant management team to control costs, manage budgets, and implement inventory control measures.
Skills
- Extensive culinary experience with a strong background in fine dining environments.
- Proven supervising experience in fast-paced kitchen settings with team management skills.
- Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitizing procedures, and proper food handling techniques.
- Experience in catering and large-scale food production is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and develop culinary teams.
- Excellent organizational skills for inventory management, cost control, and shift management.
- Skilled in food preparation, and executing high-quality dishes consistently.
- Ability to thrive under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
