We are looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented retail professional who loves translating creative direction into beautiful, shoppable physical spaces. The Merchandiser plays a key role in bringing Lovestruck's visual identity to life through engaging displays, thoughtful product presentation, and consistent merchandising standards throughout the store.
Working closely under the direction of the head of visuals and merchandising, this role executes seasonal concepts, display updates, and planograms while helping maintain the books, gifts, and merchandise featured across the sales floor. The Merchandiser also participates in the daily work of the bookstore, providing excellent customer service, supporting store operations, and assisting with events as needed.
Requirements:
-
Display Execution & Transitions: Partner with the head of visuals and merchandising, along with buyers, to design, construct, refresh, and maintain tables, windows, endcaps, shelving features, seasonal displays, and planograms accurately and on schedule.
-
Product Presentation: Arrange books, gifts, sidelines, and other merchandise to support discoverability, visual storytelling, seasonal priorities, and sales goals.
-
Brand & Signage Standards: Maintain a cohesive visual experience by following established creative direction, presentation standards, and brand guidelines. Create, place, and maintain signage, shelf-talkers, and product information as assigned.
-
Display & Stock Maintenance: Keep featured areas clean, organized, fully stocked, and easy to shop. Proactively communicate low inventory, merchandise gaps, and recurring customer requests to the appropriate team members.
-
Merchandising Organization: Maintain structured back-of-house storage for fixtures, signage, tools, supplies, and other merchandising materials so they are easy to locate and reuse.
-
Project Coordination: Track assigned merchandising tasks, deadlines, and materials; communicate progress and potential obstacles; and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
-
Customer Engagement: Provide warm, inclusive service by greeting customers, offering knowledgeable book and product recommendations, and helping guests navigate the store.
-
Sales & Operations: Use the POS system for transactions, assist with online and special orders, and support daily operations such as shelving, restocking, recovery, and maintaining organizational standards.
-
Product Knowledge: Build familiarity with store inventory, new releases, featured products, promotions, and display stories in order to answer questions and make thoughtful recommendations.
-
Problem Solving: Respond to customer questions and concerns calmly and promptly, involving a lead or manager when appropriate.
-
Store Harmony: Collaborate with the bookstore and Cafe & Bar teams to maintain a tidy shared space and a seamless experience across the retail and hospitality areas.
-
Event Presentation: Support the visual preparation of in-store and offsite events, including product displays, signage, staging, furniture placement, and post-event resets.
-
Event Execution: Assist with setup and breakdown, guest check-in, wayfinding, and other on-site needs to help events run smoothly.
-
Evolving Scope: Perform other related duties, tasks, and special projects as assigned by store leadership to support the changing needs of the business.
-
Visual Merchandising Interest: A creative eye and genuine enthusiasm for visual display work. Prior visual merchandising, retail display, or styling experience is strongly preferred; experience executing planograms or creative direction is a plus.
-
Retail or Service Experience: Prior experience in a high-traffic retail or service environment; bookstore, specialty retail, gift, or lifestyle merchandising experience is preferred.
-
Attention to Detail: A strong instinct for presentation and organization, with pride in aligned products, accurate signage, clean displays, and complete checklists.
-
Organization & Follow-Through: The ability to manage multiple assignments, follow detailed directions, meet deadlines, and maintain organized materials and workspaces.
-
Communication & Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to receive feedback, communicate progress, and work effectively across teams.
-
Customer Service: A warm, solution-oriented approach and the ability to balance project work with attentive service to customers.
-
