Floor Technician – Independent Subcontractor

About the Opportunity
We are looking for a dependable and self-motivated Floor Technician to independently provide daily floor-care services at a Weis Markets grocery store.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking for consistent additional income and who prefers working independently without a supervisor constantly on site.
Available Service Times
5:00 AM–7:00 AM — Recommended
or
7:00 PM–9:00 PM
The morning service is recommended because there is little to no customer traffic, making it easier to complete the work efficiently.
What You’ll Do
Your daily service will consist primarily of:
- Sweeping the entire sales floor with a large commercial push broom
- Washing the sales floor using a commercial floor-scrubbing machine
- Polishing the sales floor using a commercial buffer/burnisher
- Cleaning restroom floors only
- Cleaning the employee break room floor only
- Following appropriate wet-floor and safety procedures
- Reporting equipment problems or unusual conditions
When customers are present, wet-floor signs must be properly placed and used whenever wet cleaning creates a potential slip hazard.
Independent Work
This is an independent subcontractor opportunity.
There normally will not be an immediate cleaning supervisor working alongside you. You will be trusted to arrive during the agreed service window and independently complete the required work.
Supervisors will periodically inspect the location to ensure that the contracted cleaning service is being completed satisfactorily.
You will also have a point of contact available for emergencies, questions, equipment problems, or unusual situations.
Compensation
$625 per pay period
Payments are made on or before the 5th and 20th of each month.
This is an independent contractor position. Payroll taxes will not be withheld from payments. Contractors are responsible for reporting their income and handling their own applicable taxes.
Independent contractors are encouraged to keep accurate records and receipts for legitimate business expenses that may qualify as deductions. A qualified tax professional can provide guidance regarding deductible expenses and estimated taxes.
Time Off
Unpaid time off may be requested.
A minimum of two weeks’ advance notice should be provided for planned time off.
The more advance notice provided, the greater the likelihood that coverage can be arranged and the request approved.
Because this location requires daily service, reliability is extremely important.
If a scheduled service is missed without the required advance notice, emergency coverage may need to be arranged. Under the subcontractor agreement, a $50 emergency coverage charge may be deducted from compensation otherwise payable when insufficient notice results in emergency technician coverage, subject to applicable law and the terms of the agreement.
Legitimate emergencies will be considered individually, but communication should be provided as soon as reasonably possible.
