Position Summary
The Substitute School Secretary provides temporary clerical and administrative support to school offices in the absence of the regularly assigned secretary. This position assists with the daily operations of the school office by supporting staff, students, parents, and visitors while maintaining a professional and welcoming environment.
Substitutes are expected to follow district policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements while assisting with routine office operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Provide clerical and administrative support for the school office.

Greet students, parents, visitors, and staff in a professional and courteous manner.

Answer and direct telephone calls and assist with general inquiries.

Assist with student attendance documentation and office records as directed.

Perform basic data entry and maintain office files and records.

Assist with distribution of messages, mail, and school communications.

Support building administration and staff with routine office tasks.

Maintain confidentiality of student and personnel information in accordance with district policy and applicable laws.

Follow district safety procedures and emergency protocols.

Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or administration.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.
-
Ability to establish positive working relationships with teachers, support staff, students, and the public.

Ability to communicate effectively using oral and written language.
-
Ability to perform school secretarial duties and general office tasks as assigned.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a school setting.

Employee may have access to confidential student and personnel information and is required to maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with FERPA, district policy, and applicable state and federal laws.
Required Background Checks
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all required background checks including:

Criminal background screening and fingerprinting

Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) background check

Any additional screenings required by district policy
Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:

Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the office environment.

Ability to operate standard office equipment including computers, telephones, and printers.

Ability to perform clerical tasks and assist visitors and staff as needed.

Terms of Employment
Substitute positions are temporary, on-call, and as-needed. Assignments are determined by district substitute needs and availability and do not guarantee regular hours, ongoing assignments, or continued employment.
Salary/Benefits
Compensation will be in accordance with the Fremont RE-2 Substitute Salary Schedule. Substitute employees are not eligible for district benefits.
