Duties
- Prepare ingredients and assemble dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Operate various kitchen equipment safely, including slicers, mixers, ovens, and fryers, adhering strictly to safety standards.
- Assist in menu planning by preparing ingredients needed for daily specials or upcoming events.
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment by following proper cleaning procedures throughout your shift.
- Handle food safely by practicing proper food handling techniques, including correct storage, temperature control, and sanitation practices.
- Support the culinary team during meal preparation and catering events with efficient food production.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth workflow during busy hours.
Experience
- Previous experience in a food service environment such as a restaurant, catering operation, or dietary department is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of food safety management and adherence to safety standards in production environments.
- Skilled in basic culinary techniques including knife skills, slicing methods, and recipe adherence.
- Familiarity with operating commercial kitchen equipment and understanding of food handling protocols.
- Experience with meal preparation, food industry standards, and dietary aide responsibilities is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and support team efforts.
- Prior dietary department or dietary aide experience will be considered an asset for this role.
