POSITION PURPOSE:
The Resident Transport Driver is responsible for safely transporting residents to and
from scheduled medical appointments, activities, and other approved outings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION
- Safely transport residents to medical appointments, activities, and other approved outings.
- Assist residents with entering and exiting the vehicle, including the use of wheelchairs, walkers, and other
mobility devices.
- Ensure all residents are properly secured using seat belts or wheelchair restraints.
- Maintain the cleanliness and basic upkeep of the facility transportation vehicle(s).
- Conduct routine vehicle safety checks and report maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain accurate transportation logs including resident name, destination, and time of departure and
return.
- Communicate appointment times and transportation schedules with nursing staff and administration.
- Provide courteous and respectful interaction with residents, families, and healthcare providers.
- Follow all facility policies, infection control guidelines, and safety procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with additional facility-related tasks when transportation duties are completed, as assigned.
EDUCATION / REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to assist residents with transfers when entering or exiting the vehicle, push
wheelchairs and assist with mobility devices.
- Must be able to lift or move items up to 25-50 pounds when necessary.
- Must have/maintain a safe driving record.
