Commercial Lines Account Executive
Wilmington, NC | Full Time | Hybrid Flexibility
You don’t just manage commercial accounts, you build resilient businesses.
At Wells Insurance, we’re looking for a Commercial Lines Account Executive who brings clarity to complexity and hustle to opportunity. This isn’t just a sales role, it’s a strategic advisory position for someone who can navigate layered risk, lead meaningful conversations, and still pick up the phone when it matters most.
The Role
As a Commercial Lines Account Executive, you’ll own the full advisory lifecycle, from exposure discovery to placement strategy to long term retention. You’ll work with growing, sophisticated clients who expect more than a policy, they want a partner.
You’ll
-
Grow a book through proactive production and trusted relationships with midsize to large commercial clients
-
Assess exposures with depth, prepare placement strategies that hold up under pressure, and position clients for smart risk transfer
-
Navigate MOD analysis, loss trends, and contractual nuances with fluency
-
Present renewal and new business strategies with confidence, alongside sharp proposals that reflect true understanding
-
Work in tandem with Account Managers, Marketers, and Carrier Partners to deliver consistent outcomes that exceed expectations
-
Serve as a lead voice on accounts, anchoring relationships through responsiveness, presence, and practical expertise
What You Bring
-
A current NC P&C license and a solid foundation of 2+ years in commercial insurance
-
Proven experience advising clients with complex risks, not just selling, but truly guiding
-
Strong command of markets, forms, rating logic, and coverage construction
-
Confidence with numbers, timelines, and face to face conversations
-
EPIC proficiency preferred (or a quick study who documents impeccably)
-
A desire to learn, grow, and never send a submission you wouldn’t underwrite yourself
-
Humility, urgency, and the professional pride to own your work
Performance Indicators
We’ll look at the numbers (new business revenue, retention, coverage depth), but also
-
The strength of your carrier relationships
-
Your ability to deliver under pressure
-
Your presence in the room when clients need a steady hand
What You’ll Get
At Wells, we’ve spent 100+ years building a culture where professionals can do their best work, with the infrastructure, trust, and independence to make it happen.
-
Competitive salary + performance incentives
-
Fully paid continuing ed and licensing support
-
Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and disability benefits
-
Company sponsored 401(k) with match
-
Generous PTO, holidays, and volunteer time
-
A leadership team that backs you, not blocks you
Ready to do your best work here?
This is a place where your experience matters as well as your ambition does. If you're ready to bring strategic depth, sales energy, and long term thinking to the table, we’d love to talk.
