Duties:
- Create and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for children in the early childhood program.
-Implement the Highscope curriculum and tools and techniques received in training in the classroom.
-Implement and follow HeadStart Performance Standards.
-Able to take direction and follow directions with a positive attitude.
- Provide positive, self-esteem building environment, that involves building positive bonds with children in care.
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow.
- Foster social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through play-based learning.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure a cohesive and enriching educational experience for all children.
-Conduct Parent teacher conferences and home visits with parents twice a year.
- Able to work well on a team and with a partner.
- Monitor and assess the progress of each child, providing individualized support and guidance as needed.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding their child's development and any concerns or milestones.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of child development theories and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with young children.
- Ability to create engaging and stimulating learning experiences that promote curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
- Flexibility to adapt lessons and activities based on the needs and interests of individual children.
- Strong organizational skills to effectively manage classroom materials, resources, and documentation.
