We're seeking a compassionate and dependable Resident Services Associate to join our shelter team serving women and children experiencing homelessness. This role is more than supervision—it is about creating a safe, respectful environment where individuals can begin rebuilding stability after crisis, trauma, or catastrophic life events.
The Resident Services Associate is often the first person residents turn to for guidance, support, and connection to resources. The right candidate understands the importance of dignity, accountability, and encouragement while helping residents work toward personal goals and long-term stability.

Key Responsibilities:
No two days are exactly the same, but a typical shift may include:
- Greeting residents and checking in on how their day is going
- Answering calls from individuals seeking shelter or community resources
- Helping a resident complete a goal sheet or connect with a local service provider
- Documenting important events in the shift log to ensure continuity between staff
- Monitoring the building to maintain a safe and secure environment
- Supporting residents in maintaining shared spaces and completing daily chores
- Restocking supplies or organizing the pantry for residents’ use
- De-escalating a stressful situation while maintaining fairness and respect for everyone in the shelter
Throughout the shift, you will help create a structured, supportive environment where residents feel safe and encouraged to move toward stability.
Qualifications for this role include:
Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in stressful situations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Preferred
- Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness
- Experience in human services, crisis intervention, or trauma-informed care
