A Brief Overview
Responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures. This position serves as a working lead responsible for coordinating daily operations, supporting staff development, ensuring regulatory compliance, promoting patient safety, and maintaining efficient workflow. Serves as the primary resource for staff and works collaboratively with physicians, nursing, pharmacy, and hospital leadership to deliver exceptional patient care.
What you will do

Clinical Responsibilities: • Performs all nuclear medicine procedures according to departmental protocols and established standards of care. • Prepares, administers, and documents radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with physician orders and radiation safety guidelines. • Performs quality control on imaging equipment and maintain required documentation. • Ensures patient identification, safety, comfort, and education throughout each procedure. • Recognizes and responds appropriately to emergency situations. • Maintains competency in all Nuclear Medicine equipment and procedures.
- Leadership Responsibilities: • Coordinates and prioritizes the daily workflow of the Nuclear Medicine department. • Serves as the department’s lead resource for clinical questions, workflow issues, and operational concerns. • Assists with staffing assignments to maximize efficiency and patient throughput. • Mentors, trains, and evaluates new employees and students. • Promotes teamwork, professionalism, and a positive work environment. • Participates in interviewing and onboarding new staff as requested. • Communicates operational concerns and recommendations to department leadership.
- Operational Responsibilities: • Monitors patient scheduling and workflow to minimize delays. • Ensures proper utilization of radiopharmaceuticals while minimizing waste. • Coordinates with vendors regarding isotope deliveries and equipment service. • Assists with inventory management and ordering of supplies. • Monitors equipment performance and initiate service requests when necessary. • Participates in departmental quality improvement initiatives.
- Regulatory and Safety Responsibilities: * Ensures compliance with: State radiation control regulations, Joint Commission standards, American College of Radiology (ACR) standards, hospital policies and procedures, monitor radiation safety practices and ALARA principles. Assists during inspections and accreditation surveys. Maintains required departmental records and quality assurance documentation.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program. Required
- Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist: ARRT (N) or NMTCB Certification Upon Hire Required
- Current CPR/BLS certification Upon Hire Required
- Minimum 2 years experience of Nuclear Medicine Preferred
- Previous leadership or charge technologist experience Preferred
Experience with PET/CT, SPECT/CT, therapeutic nuclear medicine, and cardiac imaging Preferred
