Job Overview
We are seeking a Plant Operator I to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of natural gas processing facilities in the Barnett Field / Fort Worth Basin.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with entry-level oil and gas, plant, production, or mechanical experience who wants to build a career in natural gas processing. The Plant Operator I will work closely with experienced operators while learning plant operations, equipment, safety procedures, and process monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the operation and monitoring of natural gas processing equipment and plant systems.
- Monitor gauges, meters, control panels, and operating data, including pressure, temperature, flow rates, and levels.
- Perform routine plant rounds, inspections, and equipment checks.
- Identify equipment problems, leaks, abnormal conditions, and potential safety hazards.
- Assist with plant startups, shutdowns, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Collect equipment and process samples and perform basic field testing.
- Respond to alarms and abnormal operating conditions according to established procedures.
- Maintain accurate operating logs, shift reports, and compliance documentation.
- Support preventive maintenance, equipment upkeep, and general plant housekeeping.
- Participate in safety meetings, hazard identification, and other safety initiatives.
- Communicate operating conditions clearly during shift handoffs.
- Follow all company, environmental, regulatory, and safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Less than 3 years of relevant experience is typically required.
- Previous experience in oil and gas, natural gas, plant operations, production, industrial maintenance, or a similar environment is preferred.
- Basic understanding of mechanical equipment and a willingness to learn plant operations.
- Ability to read and monitor gauges, meters, and operating information.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and digital job-related applications.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document operating conditions.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow procedures and work safely under close supervision.
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Work Schedule & Environment
- Based out of the Fort Worth, TX office with work throughout the Barnett Field / Fort Worth Basin.
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and unscheduled callouts as required.
- Primarily an outdoor field environment with exposure to varying weather conditions.
- May require extended periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting items weighing 20+ lbs.
- May work around potentially hazardous environments where PPE is required.
- Frequent driving between field locations may be required.
