Description: The Pastors of Congregational Life partner to lead and develop a new ministry for young adults. In addition, they collaborate with colleagues on staff to oversee, resource, schedule, advise, and promote programming that fosters spiritual growth and deepens discipleship across various age groups in the congregation. They are charged with creating a sustained culture of spiritual formation that challenges people to grow in their discipleship through teaching, nurturing, and care. The Pastors of Congregational Life consistently work with the staff team to align all aspects of their responsibilities with the overall vision of Christ United Methodist Church.
Responsibilities: Pastors of Congregational Life
- Develop and lead a new ministry for young adults.
- Visit hospitals, care facilities and/or grieving church members as needed
- Participate in weekly worship planning
- Preach on Sunday morning on an as needed basis
- Lead or recruit a leader for DISCIPLE Bible study as needed
- Recruit a lay leader who will plan and coordinate monthly events for CUMC senior adults like JOY Club
- Provide leadership, planning and coordination for the annual All Church Retreat
- Assist lay leaders and other clergy with annual Confirmation process
- Establish the plan and participate in a variety of small group Bible studies and events (i.e., men’s group, older adults, Center for Living and Learning)
- Work with adult Sunday School leaders for training, planning and curriculum
- Teach Adult Sunday School as needed
- Review, purchase, catalog and create (as needed) curriculum resources for congregational use
- Serve as staff liaison with the Congregational Care Committee
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; some coursework toward a theological degree preferred
Mature Christian character and a desire for ministry Vital Spiritual Practice
Ability to work well on a team
