FACILITIES MAINTENCE COORDINATOR
Reports to: Executive Director & Assistant Director
Collaborates Daily With: Shelter Director, Canine and Feline Managers, Veterinary Team and Carestaff
Time Commitment: This is a part-time position at the shelter.
Overview:
The primary responsibility of the Facilities Maintenance Coordinator is to oversee the daily operations, maintenance and safety of all organizational facilities, grounds, vehicles and equipment. This position ensures that all assets are maintainced in a safe, functional, and cost-effective manner while coordinating preventative maintenance and improvement projects.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of all buildings, grounds, vehicles and equipment.
- Develop, implement and maintain maintenance schedules for building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and other critical infrastructure to ensure reliable operations.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities and grounds for needs and safety concerns, as well as looking for opportunities of improvement.
- Coordinate and monitor repairs, maintenance activities and emergency response efforts as needed.
- Source, evaluate, negotiate and maage contracts and service agreements with external contractors, vendors and service providers.
- Ensure contractors and vendors comply with organizational standards, safety requirements and contractual obligations.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets and deliverabilities to ensure successful completion.
- Manage inventory of supplies, equipment and materials needed for operations.
- Collaborate with internal departments to address facility needs and support staff, volunteer and animal care.
Skills and Experience:
- Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc) and general maintenance practices.
- Experience managing vendors, contractors, and improvement projects.
- Excellent communication and problem solving abilities.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate organizational vehicles.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines at once.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and control costs.
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift and carry up to 50lbs.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to respond to facility emergencies outside of regular hours when necessary.
