Position Summary: The Marching Band Assistant (Percussion) will be responsible for overseeing, training and directing the percussion section of the marching band.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be completely knowledgeable of the marching band activity and percussion and techniques.
- Communicates effectively with percussion members.
- Attend band parents’ meetings.
- Attend rehearsals, performances, competitions, and other activities of the marching band.
- Oversee and instruct the percussion section of the marching band.
- Work with the Marching Band Director and other staff to plan and execute effective rehearsals.
- Select, manage, and evaluate volunteer percussion staff in conjunction with the Marching Band Director.
- Advise director of ensemble equipment and ordering needs.
- Account for school property.
- Prepare an end-of-season summary with recommendations for program maintenance or improvement. Submit report to director.
