Process Safety Engineer
Location: Gainesville, FL
Compensation: $110,000 - $120,000

Candidates must have hands-on process safety experience, including participation in or facilitation of Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) and experience working within Management of Change (MOC) systems.
A leading specialty chemical manufacturing company is seeking a Process Safety Engineer to serve as the site's process safety subject matter expert. This individual will be responsible for driving Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Program (RMP) initiatives, supporting regulatory compliance, reducing process safety risk, and strengthening the site's overall safety culture.
This role partners closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, environmental, and EHS teams to ensure process safety principles are integrated into all aspects of manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), revalidations, HAZOPs, What-If reviews, and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) studies.

Serve as the site lead for OSHA PSM and EPA RMP program implementation and continuous improvement.

Support Management of Change (MOC), Mechanical Integrity (MI), Process Safety Information (PSI), operating procedures, training, and incident investigation programs.

Evaluate process and chemical hazards associated with new products, technologies, capital projects, and process modifications.

Partner with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify and implement risk reduction initiatives.

Drive timely completion of corrective actions resulting from PHAs, audits, incidents, and compliance assessments.

Participate in process safety incident investigations and identify opportunities for long-term risk reduction.

Support internal and external process safety audits and regulatory compliance activities.

Promote a strong process safety culture through employee engagement, training, and technical leadership.

Provide guidance on recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices (RAGAGEP).
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline.

Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing facility subject to OSHA Process Safety Management and EPA Risk Management Program regulations.

Working knowledge of OSHA PSM (29 CFR 1910.119) and EPA RMP requirements.

Experience with PHA methodologies such as HAZOP, What-If, Checklist, and/or LOPA.

Experience supporting Management of Change, Mechanical Integrity, and incident investigation programs.

Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

Ability to work effectively across operations, maintenance, engineering, and EHS functions.
